Trinity is home..

Trinity getting bath from mom
Our “baby” came home recently and I thought I’d share.. her other family may want to check in on her too
Anyway Trinity was born to a gal we bought from a commercial dairy because she was of no use to them, couldn’t carry a calf (HA!) and was sold for a buck a pound, would have gone on the meat truck but instead came here. We cut the tags out of her ears, gave her a proper name (after her mom she never knew) and started to call her Elinor. Within just a few weeks of being here and living a nonstressful life.. we told her we couldn’t care less if she had a baby or not, would have a safe and happy forever home.. anyway she did spend a little time with our sweet pet bull and ta da! the day before Easter 2007 she had a beautiful chocolate baby girl.. we named her Trinity and once she was weaned she went to live nearby and a really nice family who treated her like a member of the family. Recently they were unable to keep this full sized “house cow” lol and being concerned about where she would end up, brought her home to us. She and her mom are lounging around in the corral like cows do, just enjoying life.. and well, Trinity is getting lots of baths that mom thinks she’s behind on..
no cheese yet
Dern I was thinking I’d make cheese this week but my twerp of a baby calf (not How Now but month-old Titus) is drinking almost three gallons a day! ha ha.. oh well, soon he’ll be a big boy and won’t need me and it will be sad. I guess I have lots of catching up to do for the blog but Titus was born the last day of November to a new mamma and she had a hard time. Fiona prolapsed her uterus and thanks to our wonderful vet and some help from our friends she is fine and dandy, as is the big baby.. but she was so gorked out I think she just has no idea she gave birth and although she is not mean to him, she has no clue and as a blessing, he doesn’t seem to either.. so I’m mom to this big ornery bull calf forĀ now. I will post a photo of our Titus.

got milk
Lots of real (raw milk) milk shares available now
With the addition of two new baby calves now in the past month we are going to be able to bring in more cow share members! We are getting quite a bit of wonderful milk every day and once these babies are weaned it will be a lot more. I hope to start making a big batch of butter and cheese on a regular basis as well.
